This institute "Ahmed Bbaba Center for Documentation and Research Tombouctou" created in the 70's.It was established to be a repository and learning centre for Authentic African literature written in Arabic. It was also established to be a centre of information exchange in the area of Arab-Islamic culture in Timbuktu.
The buildings are designed and finished in traditional Malian architecture.
